Initiatives

The Stark Education Partnership serves as a catalyst for change and a supporter of initiatives to improve the education outcomes and foster high achievement for all children, preschool through college in Stark County, Ohio.

In this role the Partnership sponsors, supports or collaborates with organizations across the county in fostering a convergence of successful strategies and programs that will lead to Stark County’s emergence and the most educated county in the nation.

Some current initiatives involve:

  • Serving as the supporting organization for Ohio’s first local P-16 council, the Stark County P-16 Compact.
  • Partnering with the Canton City Schools and Stark State College of Technology and providing ongoing technical assistance for the Early College High School on the Timken Campus.
  • Continuing support to expand College Opportunity Units, literally opportunities for students to earn college credit while in high school through a variety of programs.
  • Supporting with the Stark County Educational Service Center and Ohio College Access Network on a two year project between Stark State College of Technology, Kent State Stark and 14 districts to eliminate math remediation in college.
  • Creating a new network of action, the Council of Scholarship, Internship and Co-op Providers, to increase the number of Stark County residents with college degrees.
