Stark Education Partnership awarded $10,000
CantonRep.com staff report

Stark Education Partnership was awarded $10,000 from Dominion East Ohio Tuesday in its 14th annual Community Impact Awards competition, co-sponsored by Dominion East Ohio and Inside Business Magazine.
The partnership won the award for using community mapping to create a Stark County Promise. In 2007, the Stark Education Partnership formed a Stark County council of scholarship, internship and co-op providers. The group was charged with creating a map of existing federal, state and local institutional and civic resources to establish and define the level of need among the student populations in Stark County.

Members have succeeded in raising more than $9 million in scholarship, internship and co-op funds available to Stark County students.

Members of the Stark County Council include: Alliance High School Foundation, Canton City School, Canton Local Schools, Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Defense Metals, The Employment Source, The Paul and Carol David Foundation, MAGNET, The Stark Community Foundation, Stark County Education Service Center, Stark Education Partnership, Stark Development Board, Stark State College Foundation, Stark State College of Technology, Stark County Tech Prep, The Timken Co. and United Way of Greater Stark County.

A panel of community judges selected the winners from nearly 100 entries submitted by organizations statewide. The award recognizes cities or organizations that have made an impact in the community. Funding for the grant comes from the Dominion Foundation.
