We applaud the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Stark Education Partnership and the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce for attempting to tackle the problem of “braindrain.”
The three groups sponsored a meeting last week at Stark State College of Technology in Jackson Township to discuss why so many people leave the state upon graduating from college.
Clearly, Ohio suffers when such people take their skills and talents elsewhere.
The organizations sponsored the event because they felt they needed to know why graduates leave, in order to design a plan that will assist businesses in recruiting and encourage them to stay in Ohio.
While there are no obvious, ready solutions, a close examination of the issue is a start.
