Ohio Exceeds Nation on ACT Test
Figures released at the Ohio ACT State Organization's Conference this week show more of Ohio's 2009 high school graduates are ready to succeed at college level coursework than the national average.

The graduating class of 2009 averaged 21.7 on the ACT composite score compared to 21.1 nationally. Seventy-two percent of Ohio's students meet the English benchmark, compared to 67% across the nation. On math, 46% met the benchmark compared to 42%. In science, Ohio students were a full 5% above the national average.

ACT's college benchmarks equate to a 50% chance of earning a "B" or a 75% chance of earning a "C" in college courses.
