Legislative Study Commission on Higher Education issues Report

The importance of adult and higher education, both for individual success and the long-term economic viability of Ohio, cannot be understated - Legislative Study Commission on Higher Education: Chairman's Report

A report [1] issued last week by the Ohio House of Representatives contains both background information and new policy considerations on several key higher education concerns.

The Legislative Study Commission on Higher Education was specifically charged to:

  • Identify opportunities to improve the quality of higher education while reducing cost to individual students and taxpayers.
  • Recognize multiple pathways and options available within Ohio's adult and higher education system.
  • Provide a forum to discuss eligibility for and distribution of financial aid.
  • Examine the barriers to accessing higher education, particularly for non-traditional students.
  • Better understand the connection between career-technical education, higher education and workforce development.
  • Continue to examine policy issues affecting higher education that were raised during the budget process.[2]

Chaired by Representative Clifford A. Rosenberger, 91st District, the Commission Vice-Chair was Stark County Representative Christina Hagan, 50th District.
