Girl Taking Test on a ComputerCLEP Test Offers an Opportunity for Students and Adults to Earn College Credit

A new directive is under review at the Ohio Board of Regents.

A Proposal for Awarding College-level Examination Program Credits to Public Institutions of Higher Education in Ohio gives overall guidance to Ohio public colleges and universities on how to award credit for the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)[1].

Passing the CLEP test, a program of the College Board, gives entering students an opportunity to qualify for college credit on the basis of what they already know and have mastered.

The College Board notes that CLEP's benefits can also extend to adults who often juggle finances, family, and time to attend college or complete a degree. These adults can often build upon job training or military experience to pass CLEP tests.

All Stark County colleges and universities currently accept CLEP subject to their own policies. Additionally, Kent State Stark[2] and Malone University[3]

serve as CLEP testing sites as well as Walsh University at its Akron location.
