Stark's "Sit-Outs" More Likely to Enroll at 2-Year Colleges

Over 1,200 graduates from the Stark County Classes of 2009, 2010, and 2011 elected to sit out one or two years before beginning college. When they did start, at least 63%, or 773 students, enrolled at two-year institutions.

These figures come from the January 2014 Student Tracker for High Schools Aggregate Report for Stark County that looks at college enrollment patterns across all 17 school districts. For the students who eventually started at two-year schools, Stark State College remained the primary destination. The actual percentage enrolling in two-year programs, however, may be even higher as students enrolling in two-year programs at Kent Stark are considered four-year students by Student Tracker.
