Stark County: A Long History of Schools of Promise

The State Superintendent's Schools of Promise program recognizes schools across Ohio that have high achievement in reading and math for all students, despite the fact that 40 percent or more are from low-income backgrounds. Only 163 of Ohio's 3,294 schools earned the distinction for 2012. Eight were in Stark County.

Stark has a long history of Schools of Promise. Since the program began in 2002, county schools have been recognized forty-one times.
