Number of Stark's AP Students Surpasses 2,000 in 2010

For the first time in Stark County's history, the number of high school students enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) courses surpassed 2,000 last year. The 2,035 AP students across all 17 districts represented an increase of nearly 33% from 2009. Also on the rise were the number of AP exams taken which increased by 779.

More than 60% of the students earned a score of 3 or higher on at least one exam. The national average is 56%. The score is an important benchmark. At that level and above, 90% of the nation's colleges and universities have policies granting students college credit, advanced placement, or both.
