Higher Educational Attainment Equals Lower Unemployment Rates

While factors relating to unemployment in the current economy are numerous and often complex, one truism seems to be that people with more education tend to stay employed.*

Yet, is there a relationship between the overall education attainment in a county and its unemployment rate?

Last month, Stark County's unemployment rate remained unchanged from February while Canton's unemployment dropped slightly from 11.5 percent to 11.4 percent. Stark ranks 56th in unemployment among Ohio's 88 counties.

A review of the education level of Stark's adults, age 25 and over, with that in counties with the highest, and lowest, unemployment rates shows that with two exceptions, there does seem to be a relationship.
