Lake Local Schools Honored as one of the Best Communities for Music Education in AmericaNAMM Salutes Lake Local Schools

We urge communities to celebrate the designation as a national recognition for their commitment to children - we all just need to do this for kids. - Mary Luehrsen, executive director of the NAMM Foundation.

The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation has named the Lake Local Schools as one of only 179 school districts across the United States to receive its 2011 designation of Best Communities for Music Education (BCME). [1]

The designation is based on the BCME survey, a national search that honors schools, districts and their communities for support of music education.

The designation's prominence is further underscored by advisory organizations in the fields of music and education that help NAMM in conducting the survey and reviewing the data. These are Americans for the Arts, the League of American Orchestras, Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation and Music for All.

Also playing a role in surveying were the Music Teachers National Association, National Guild for Community Arts Education, Yamaha Corporation of America Young Audiences, the National PTA and the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.performance.
