Half Decade of Proof Documents the Ongoing Success of Canton Early College High School Half Decade of Proof

Ever since its first class graduated in 2009, all Canton Early College High School (CECHS) students have graduated on-time and with college credit. Across the nation, only 93% of early college high school students can claim on-time graduation and only 94% have earned college credit.

These findings come from a new report, Half Decade of Proof by the Stark Education Partnership (SEP) that looks at outcomes for the first five graduating classes of CECHS compared to averages across the nation.

Most significantly, 144 of the 256 graduates of CECHS to date have graduated with an Associate Degree from Stark State College. This 56% success rate is more than double the national average of 23%.

Drawing upon this statistic, the report stresses that one major outcome of CECHS is completion. While only one out of every six Ohioans in an Associate Degree program will earn that degree in four years, at CECHS it is better than one in two.
