On November 12th and 13th in Columbus, Dr. Adrienne O'Neill attended the Ohio Grantmakers Forum 2009 Annual Conference, New Reality, New Solutions. Dr. O'Neill gave a presentation on College Access.

Creativity Institute

Dr. O'Neill attended a Creativity Institute in Columbus sponsored by First Lady Frances Strickland and State Superintendent of Instruction, Deborah Delisle, on Saturday, November 14.

Dr. Adrienne O'Neill Represents Business Community on School Funding Advisory Council
 
Stark County's Dr. Adrienne Dollar puzzleO'Neill was recently appointed by the Ohio Senate President to the Ohio School Funding Advisory Council. Dr. O'Neill will serve as the business community representative.

State leaders created the 28-member School Funding Advisory Council as part of the recent 128th General Assembly, biennial budget, HB1. The council is charged with preparing recommendations by December 2010 on the following subjects: 
  • Special education, gifted, career-technical, arts and LEP education, as well as Early College High Schools
  • Student-centered EBM based on existing per-pupil level of funding
  • The ESC system
  • Joint vocational school districts and comprehensive career-technical schools
  • Existing compensation and retirement benefits for teachers
  • Whether charter and STEM schools should be subject to expenditure and reporting standards and accountability requirements
  • The effect of open enrollment on students and school districts
