College and Career Readiness Tools for Middle and High School Students at No Cost

The state's ohiomeansjobs.com web site is not just for adults. The site's K-12 component[1]gives students the opportunity to create their own "virtual backpack" to save and view information, ranging from career interest surveys to how to create a budget reflecting the cost of living on their own.

The site further enables students to plan for, and search for, high demand jobs while learning about their eligibility for Ohio grants and scholarships and there is one other highly valuable component.

Ohio Means Jobs has a cadre of college and career readiness tools that enables students to both sharpen skills learned in the classroom and to take practice tests for the PSAT/NMSQT, ACT, SAT, WorkKeys, and Advanced Placement exams. Also offered is a battery of career readiness tests ranging from the allied health professions to law and real estate.[2]

Students who complete tests receive certificates of achievement and those who have created an Ohio Means Jobs account can save their scores for future reference.

While many commercial sites also offer practice tests, not all are free, nor can they be easily accessed in one place. Ohio Means Jobs has solved this problem and at the same time created a valuable tool for middle and high school students.
